I've always loved The 5th Dimension and I remember seeing this 'It takes A Thief' episode! I'm also almost certain that The 5th Dimension had a different band name in the episode but I can't find it anywhere! My brain keeps telling me it was something like 'Cat Weasle'!! Anybody else remember?

I actuallly saw this episode

This was from episode of "It Takes a Thief" with Robert Wagner.

It is interesting that Laura Nyro's picture is on the studio's wall as Robert Wagner walks out, since she wrote some of the Fifth Dimension's hits, although she did not write Puppet Man.
