Maynard Ferguson - Gabriel free for downloading

Yeah I don't hear Stan Mark here on any solos at all. Mark was a fine lead player but no scream player. He would tell you that himself. In his "masterclass" interview he describes all the other trumpets as "better high note guys".

The thing I love about jazz with this kind of lead work is that ... it almost can't be sad. I use this often to crack those rough days.

The solo was The BOSS all the way but brilliantly supported by a superb band and especially and awesome trumpet section led by the immaculate Stan ‘the man’ Mark

Actually I think the trumpet solos on this cut were done by Stan Mark, who played lead trumpet with the MF band for something ike 14 years. Check the liner notes, but I believe this is Stan not Maynard. but i do agree great sound and Maynard brought it to us for years and it is a shame we have lost it.

Dammit. Miss this kind of music.
