The syncopation, that 6 over 4 keyboard riff, the cool laid-back vocal style, the sickly and slickly talented band... my god, I love this song.

R.I.P. to the talented director of this video, Jonathan Demme, who died today.

I made a mistake of giving up on SV. I think it was when "Nine Objects of Desire," came out in 1996. For me it just wasn't the SV that I loved so much. However, after hearing "Songs in Red and Grey," for the first time today Jan 2020, it has made me fall deeply back in love, unconditionally with her again. So, so sorry SV for underestimating your talent and how spiritually powerful your music still is today, Keep up the good work, and may you live forever! Love you always Xx

I love her haircut and the way she moves behind the mic.

Her voice is filled with mystery - an enigmatic voice.....

What I like is that she is just plain singing. No throaty strained vocals no screaming no annoying overused vocal runs and unneeded gymnastics Just beautiful singing.

Wow...I remember how much this album meant to me in the 80s. It's amazing how revisiting an old love like Solitude Standing can stir up those same feelings as I sing every word. Such a timeless classic. Totally underrated.

I heard her music at my neigbours when I was around 7 - I pestered my school for guitar lessons, they eventually put them on and I was the first and only girl for a long time playing strings because of this amazing talent - she is a wonderful artist. Im 31 now and still sing her songs.

One of her best songs ever in my opinion...so complex but simple too. Amazing. Her look in this video is one of my favorites too...such a cool classy chick.

The video takes me back to my sophomore year in high school. Back when MTV actually played music videos.

This was her best band, in my opinion. Marc Shulman was a very tasteful guitarist who knew how to use space.
