Ironically the third time was the charm for me. I dated a lot of guys but fell in love very hard for two, and the third one, I married....still married almost 19 years...Glad I waited for my third charm. A special song to me, during the time I was trying to move on from my first charm!
They were my favorite band back in the late 70's. Everyone else was Aerosmith, REO, AC/DC, Foreigner and such who were all great, but these were my boys. Never did get to see them and I am still sad for that.
I have played and sang every Starz album and song at least a million times since 1975 and I never get tired of them. Michael Lee Smith is still in my opinion one of the absolute finest rock vocalists and frontmen of the 70's. This is one of my favorite songs and still a very beautiful ballad.
For those who had listened to the band's first two albums, Starz and Violation, the change in direction must have been a rude surprise...For a band that originally sounded like they wanted to be Kiss or Aerosmith, suddenly they were coming off as a power pop band. The production ruined Attention Shoppers. If only they used Jack Douglas to produce again. Unfortunately, "Attention Shoppers" was met with a collective commercial raspberry, effectively derailing Starz' momentum.
I remember Jamie Lynn...She died of Multiple Sclerosis in '82. She was a very special young woman, fifteen years old, y'know. Teenage angst. We dreamed of running off and getting married. She said she wanted to beat this but she lost, like we all do, in the end. But I will never forget Jamie Lynn from Coronado, Cal.....
