Just bought a grab bag of fifty 45 rpm records off eBay. Included was the yellow vinyl pressing of this track with "Subway Terror" on the B-side. 1977 Capitol Records.
Great job on the video! Can't believe all those people risking their lives by driving on the wrong side of the road, DAREDEVILS!!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Lee Smith
Michael you have been blessed with one of the finest singing voices ever. It's so clear and strong. Thanks for sharing your voice with us on these great Starz songs. They surely sound as good now as they did some forty years ago.
I have just added the lyrics to the information accompanying the video. Hope they are okay for you. Apparently Michael Lee Smith wrote this song about his wife (who sadly is no longer with us).
Michael Lee Smith I love your band STARZ!!!!! I've been listening to you guys since 1977 when I was 11 years old!!!! I was a DJ at a radio station 88.7 the choice here in Texas and I played "Cherry Baby" one week for my "RICKY" Track!!!! People called in and LOVED IT!!!!! PEACE Ricky Parker
Bought their first two albums back then (in Alaska) and never heard them once on the radio. This song was certainly radio friendly. Catchy to this day. Radio likes those 3 minute songs though..
thanks Scott...who knows what really went down behind the scenes with us? There's a widely held theory that KISS was making so much money at the time that Aucoin just needed a tax write-off, and there we were and.....
This song is 40 years old. See? There's no such thing as old music. Just good music and crappy music, and that's subjective. I saw these guys' first tour in CLE when the had the mirror balls under the drum riser. And they slapped the shit out of it. Label contracts were always tricky and I'm worked with brilliant bands that got the fuzzy end of the sucker. This was a really good band and I miss them.
