Like a lot of groups back in the day that never got the recognition...Montrose, April Wine, Triumph, Tease, City Boy, Prism, Starz, there's a lot more. Some got some radio time for one song like April Wine " I like to rock" and Thin Lizzy "The boy's are back in town" When they both had songs better than these.
You Tube is creating an amazing archive of music of all kinds for the ages. Imagine a hundred years from now (assuming we've solved some of our problems), there will be people whos musical tastes will extend to STARZ.
Starz makes me think of Angel. Both great bands that never quite made it. They were always on the verge of international stardom but never quite got there. The reason being that although they had lots of really good songs they did not have the one great song that would finally achieve their goals. I simply do not hear a hit song in either band's catalogue.
I bought this STARZ album... Yes, Vinyl , in a Record Store.. Yes, Record Store; because I Liked the Name and the COVER of the jacket. Got hooked on a few of their songs (not "pulled the plug") , but BLASTED "Night CRAWLER" all the time on my Stereo with my windows Open ! "over and Over" was another good kick-arse song!
This album was just way too ahead of its time .... and this song is one of my favorites, great lyrics married to great music. Detroit Girls, Boys in Action, Over and Over, Live Wire, and the controversial blues-rocker "Pull The Plug". A f*ckin awesome album.
For all those who bought albums because you liked the cover it came in I say bravo ! I have been doing that for 50 years and it never ceases to amaze me at what lies between the grooves, as in life sometimes you have to roll the dice and take a chance , and more often than not you'll be pleasantly surprised ...Rock On !
Fucking loved this band! Anytime they played the STARWOOD I was there. Richies guitar and Micheal Lee Smith were brilliant chemistry. I still have the original vinyl in my collection.
Thanx for posting
