My romance doesn’t have to have a moon in the sky
My romance doesn’t need a blue lagoon standing by
No month of May
No twinkling stars
No hideaway
No soft guitars
My romance doesn’t need a castle rising in Spain
Nor a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
Wide awake, I can make the most fantastic dream come true
My romance doesn’t need a thing but you
(My romance doesn’t have to have a moon in the sky
My romance doesn’t need a blue lagoon standing by)
No month of May
No twinkling stars
No hideaway
No soft guitars
My romance doesn’t need a castle rising in Spain
Nor a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
Wide awake, I can make the most fantastic dream come true
My romance doesn’t need a thing but you
In a 1958 interview with British jazz authority Chris Albertson, the legendary tenor saxophonist Lester Young, famed for his work with Billie Holiday, named Lady Day and Jo Stafford as his favorite singers, adding, "And I'm through."
To this statement a puzzled Albertson queried, "But Jo Stafford does not sing jazz, does she?"
"No," Young replied, "but I hear her voice and the sound and the way she puts things on. Enough said."
My romance is Jo Stafford, who does credit to the Great American song book with her lovely voice in all heartfelt lyrics. A treasure from our great country.
My romance, doesn't have to have a moon in the sky
My romance, doesn't need a blue lagoon standing by
No month of May, no twinkling stars
No hideaway, no soft guitar
My romance doesn't need a castle rising in Spain
Or a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
All at once I can make my most fantastic dreams come true
My romance, doesn't need a thing but you
My romance doesn't need a castle rising in Spain
Or a dance to a constantly surprising refrain
And wide awake, I can make my most fantastic dreams come true
My romance, doesn't need a thing but you, but you
