Out where the bright lights are glowing
You're drawn like a moth to a flame
You laugh while the wine's over flowing
While I sit and whisper your name
Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me
Sometimes I ask why I'm waiting
But my walls have nothing to say
I'm made for love, not for hating
So here where you've left me, I'll stay
One night with you is like heaven
And so, while I'm walking the floor
I'll listen for steps in the hallway
And wait for your knock on my door
Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me
Closing in on me
A song as old as I am, and one which will outlive me. An absolute classic, and one that came in real handy later on. First played it on KHAD in 1978 and on several country stations later on. There were many nights like that; this helped get me through. Chet Atkins produced and played guitar, Floyd Cramer on piano, Bob Moore on bass and Farris Courney on drums, with the Jordanaires backing Jim's vocal. Another immortal one from RCA's Studio B in Nashville.
This is dedicated to one of the greatest man I have ever known we call him Papa. He was a Korean veteran who lost three limbs and what he could do is a lot more than people with two arms and two legs can do. His name was Richard Van Houten from Brooklyn New York. He has passed away since and he had a lot of stories that I loved but this was his favorite song and now it's our favorite song
