The Fusion stuff is my favorite. Saw JLP back in the late 70's. They opened for Renaissance. Nothing against them, but whoever booked that gig messed up bigtime. JLP blew them clean off the stage. My bud and I walked out during the middle of Renaissance's 2nd tune. We were just so emotionally drained from the sonic experience, and were starting to fall asleep ;)
One of my favorites. I once saw a Warren Miller film which used the entire piece as the soundtrack to a segment featuring slow-motion footage of deep powder skiing on a cloudless day - it was mesmerizing. The interplay of the light filtered through the clouds of powder thrown into the air and the dreamlike reduced speed of the skiers, and this music, created an atmosphere that was pure magic.
This is certainly one of THE classic fusion songs of all time. This may very well be JLP's finest band lineup performing at its very best. The acoustic guitar textures are particularly poignant and, quite frankly, will live on much longer than most of the nonsense we think of as classic today.
