Here on this bed where i sense every thread start to fray, you re here but it s clear you re just salt and shadow
Here half a world away, but half a world away, and i feel our skin touch but there s only so much it can say
we re just square photographs on a page
But you re merely a hologram, on the edge of a knife Shadow, you manage to hide even here by my side where we lay
We re never alone but we re each in our own little cage, every color and hue on display Salt, you re talking through glass
Still so far away, every color and hue on display Shadow, we re just square photographs on a page
Till thick veils of indigo signaled the end of the day, every color and hue on display, still so far away
But you re merely a hologram, we re just square photographs on a page
we re just square photographs on a page
On the edge of a knife, but half a world away
Still so far away, but each landscape that lies in the mirror of your eyes turns to grey
You re here but it s clear you re just salt and shadow, every color and hue on display
still so far away
Till thick veils of indigo signaled the end of the day, the sky took its cue Salt, we re never alone but we re each in our own little cage
Here half a world away, you manage to hide even here by my side where we lay, but each landscape that lies in the mirror of your eyes turns to grey
On the edge of a knife, we re just square photographs on a page
Still so far away, but half a world away, but each landscape that lies in the mirror of your eyes turns to grey
And i feel our skin touch but there s only so much it can say, you re here but it s clear you re just salt and shadow Shadow, the sky took its cue
here on this bed where i sense every thread start to fray
You re talking through glass, you re here but it s clear you re just salt and shadow Shadow, every color and hue on display
Still so far away, here on this bed where i sense every thread start to fray
you re here but it s clear you re just salt and shadow
I am so glad I had the chance to hear this music. I was listening to a blue October playlist and I saw a band name I had never heard before. a few hours later i am listening to every album they have. every song, every word. Beautifully made, Thrice! Don't stop!
We did it, everyone, we made it to the point in history where we can listen to this particular song with noise cancelling headphones and close our eyes.
[Verse 1]
The sky took its cue, every color and hue on display
Till thick veils of indigo signaled the end of the day
But each landscape that lies in the mirror of your eyes turns to grey
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
[Verse 2]
On the edge of a knife, it's like you're living your life on the stage
You're talking through glass, we're just square photographs on a page
Oh, we're never alone but we're each in our own little cage
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
[Chorus]
You're here but it's clear you're just salt and shadow
Here, but half a world away
You're here, but you're merely a hologram
Here, still so far away
Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
[Verse 3]
You manage to hide even here by my side where we lay
Here on this bed where I sense every thread start to fray
And I feel our skin touch but there's only so much it can say
[Chorus x3]
You're here but it's clear you're just salt and shadow
Here half a world away
You're here but you're nearly a hologram
Here, still so far away
I love how this masterpiece ends with the intro of "Hurricane", so if you listen to the album on repeat, it blends well together and gives "Hurricane" a fresh feel. Thank you, Thrice, for a new favorite album!
I've never listened to Thrice. A friend of mine just told me to listen to this album. I'm absolutely floored. Thank you, Derek. This album is fucking golden
That moment when you reach the end of Salt and Shadow and think 'I need more!', but there is no more, so you go back to Hurricane and replay the album again (I have lost count)
