Oh my God! It sounds like nothing so much as the Fall imitating Siouxsie and the Banshees - lyrically, and in the guitar riff that sounds a little bit like the one on the Banshees' Placebo Effect", from 1979. I love it, though.

funny you should say that - my favourite thing about this song is the "rough as a bear's arse" recording quality, reminds me of the stuff my dad's old ska band recorded on a little black box in his basement 20 odd years ago

When I bought the vinyl of Witch trials' in '79 to me they were Punk ..& so were Wire ..& Joy Division...etc . It was hard to think at the time 'this is post- punk ' as Punk was still ongoing ( not for much longer ,but you mostly view the present ...from the future)
