Oh, what will you give me? Say the sad bells of Rhymney Is there hope for the future? Say the brown bells of Merther Who made the mine open? Say the black bells of Rhonda And who killed the miner? Say the grim bells of Lina Who aband' us in court? Say the bells of Newport All will be well if-if-if-if-if, Say the green bells of Cardiff Why so worried, sister why? Say the silver bells of Whye And what will you give me? Say the sad bells of Rhymney Oh, what will you give me? Say the sad bells of Rymney Is there hope for the future? Say the brown bells of Merther Who made the mine open? Say the black bells of Rhonda And who killed the miner? Say the grim bells of Lina

You guys MUST watch ECHOS IN THE CANYON on Netflixs. The interviews by Jacb Dylan are phenomenal.

Absolutley gorgeous song. Love the 12-string Rickenbacker sound. Sounds like Peter Buck was channeling this arpeggiated guitar style for Murmur-era REM.

If popular music has perfection---this is close as it gets! Pure aesthetic engagement.....

The instrumentation is wonderful, as always, which I believe made the sound of the Byrds most distinctive and original. Lovely.

lovely version of the song. I wixh they's pronounce it right though. It's rhum -knee, not as they pronounce it rim-knee. (phonetic) I should know. The song is all about the mines of South Wales. This is where I live. All these places are known to me.
