As I understand it, the bluesy acoustic guitar in the background was added in 1968 by Hillman well after the song was originally recorded.

I can't help myself, but I hear the ghost of Layne Staley wafting through... dig the Alice In Chains' Jar Of Flies album

This should have been on "Younger ..." instead of Crosby's self indulgent "Mind Gardens." It really used to bother me that their record label Columbia always shortchanged their albums by placing one less track on Side Two. One or two more good, well-considered songs on YTY would have made this not only their best album, but also a monumental classic, alongside some of the very best of that era. It wasn't that they lacked for good material, either. But the last song, "Why," hits a fitting, atmospheric last note to the album -- the last chord in fact, with Crosby's Gretsch 6-string, the Rick 12, and Hillman's bass, always, always gets to me.

The 11-track thing Columbia always did for their albums pisses me off though, this could've been included onto YTY...
