Wonderfull....Duke was real proud of the adaption. It proved that his bluesy chord changes could really work with the wider audiences not just the jazz fans of the day.

Connie became the exclusive lead after Harry Leedy took over their career. Listen to "Lucky Little Devil" to hear Martha on the lead.

This is fascinating. This is a 1933 recording of a tune that had only been published the year before, and so it was a new piece of material, not yet weighed down with the gravitas that it has had attached to it during the last eight decades...The Boswell Sisters and the band were free to take liberties with it.(The band, incidentally, features young up-and-comer Benny Goodman on clarinet.)

What a pleasure.  They should have more well known then they are today.  They had their own special magic.
