The measure of a great song and arrangement is that even when sung by a novelty performer like Tex Beneke it comes out good. The Manhattan Transfer has a really good arrangement of the same song.
That's is BEAUTIFUL harmonizing as the standard should always be. That's a song to swing to. Unfortunately, it's way too short. I could listen for another five minutes. They will always be sorely missed.
Does this capture the musical flavor of the 1940's or what! This is so Big Band Era with it's wonderful blending of instrumental and voices to create a happy, upbeat selection that makes you smile and lifts off the pressure for a few minutes.
My God, how I miss this incredible combination of talent!
This song is from the film "The Time, The Place and The Girl", sung by Jack Carson and Dennis Morgan.
If any body has a copy it would be appreciated if they would post it.
I saw the film in the early 50s.
I couldnt agree more 1884walt, but you have to remember that Ray was just a kid when he started performing with Glenn...I think that all of us singers/crooners hit our sweet spot somewhere around our 40's...just my opinion...
