Instant bookmark! I love Joplin, and hate rushed tempo versions of his stuff. Love it when you can hear a performer's love for the piece, and ragtime is really the criterion there. This one wins!

As I listen to him play I damn near cry everytime...I can just 'see' him playing different 'dives' at the turn o' the century...This man, to me, is an absolute legend!!!

I really love this piece, especially the part at 2:27 I know ragtime is often seen as popular music, but Joplin's pieces are really deep and much more complex than most of the other ragtimes.

I am an old boogie pianist (65)...I learned by listening to Little Richard, Jerry Lee, Fats, and such....I still play (a Roland keyboard) and 'kick' it into gear every now and then, but neuropathy in my fingers just won't let me accurately play anymore...but after I burn a fattie...I enjoy my own tunes pretty well...

I always envision an old silent movie when I hear this. It starts out with two men negotiating the sale of a truck and when they finally agree on a price and shake hands, the new owner backs up the truck only to find out that the brakes don't work as he crashes into some garbage cans. He returns to the seller demanding an explanation where upon the seller informs him that the pedal just needs to be pumped a few times to get the breaks to work and returns some of his money so he can get it fixed. So the new owner drives off satisfied with this compromise but naturally he gets into trouble when he pulls up along side a convertible proud of his purchase and starts to makes eyes at a lovely young lady who's sits in the passenger seat of a young rich gentlemen. What ensues, of course, is a testosterone fueled race between the two with the disastrous and funny results you would expect . I think it would be fun to revive the art of silent film with music of this era as the sound track.
