Back in the 1940's as a 5 year old little girl, I loved to play this song on the picalo (Juke Box). On March 14, 1959, I married a man that had those "beautiful brown eyesl" We were married for 53 years...then the Lord called him Home to be with Him. So glad to hear this song again. Brought back a good memory. Oh...and the man who came in to change out the records gave me that record. I loved playing it on my little cardboard record player.
I remember this song fondly. When it came out in the 50’s,my girlfriend at the time had a beautiful face and the biggest and deepest brown eyes.long ago and far away.
Now ,60yrs later, every time I stagger down a barroom floor ,I think of that beautiful girl.
I need a drink!!

Everytime I hear this song, I have mixed emotions... My great aunt wrote this song, but her father was the biggest jerk ever and didn't let her get any credit for it. After he crumpled up the letter and threw it in the fireplace, people got their hands on the music & lyrics. So now I'm happy that people like the song so much, and have great memories. But there's a side of me that hates what happened. I love this song with all my heart, and will treasure it forever! I'm glad ya'll enjoy it! :)
