I love the song, but I have a hard time figuring out whether the character of the song is really that obidient, with no-self esteem or whether the lyrics are meant as an irony. Someone who can provide me with an answer and maybe more context?)
Thanks!
Within three months of her appearance with "It's My Party", Lesley had recorded enough top ten hits (if they had all been released) to top the charts for three more years. This gem would have been a monstrous hit on the top 40.
Lesley made some great songs, many of them overlooked - like this beauty. The standard 2½ minutes, simple boy-girl problem song that typifies the period; simple lyrics, catchy tune. Thanks for posting.
When I was 12 I would listen to my mums 45 records and It's my party, Run Bobby RUN, and Don't Tell Me What To Do was all I would Sing If you could call it that to my poor neighbours just loved her Thank You for posting and bringing back happy memories.
