Coffee morning, another great song from a true artist who stayed true to herself. Her spirit is with me now especially when I sing in my church choir. The great Laura Nyro, God bless her.
I said it before and I'd say it again...there isn't anything Laura done that hasn't fall short of amazing! A true artist who stayed true to her convictions and wasn't corrupted by the industry.Peace to you,Ms. Laura & once again, welcome to the halls of R&R HoF.
I am rediscovering her talent anew every day & it is incredible. Can't believe I didn't notice her much when I was younger even though I heard so many artists cover her songs. To me she was up there with Carol King & Joni Mitchell.
The lanky guy walking with Laura, and the hidden guy hugging her fishnet stockinged legs on her balcony is Jim Fielder, bass player for the late sixties band Blood Sweat And Tears. She had a year-long relatiionship with him..
Secrets reside in the soulfulness of the mysteries that envelop Laura's soul that transcends us and takes us to another place, a place where we all want to be and stay there for a while with her. She is great with her haunting piano music alone and her soulful voice that makes us sit, close our eyes and transcend us there right there with her, and stay there with her for awhile. Nice to see so many fans stop by here and be together for a while.
INREDIBLE MUSICIANSHIP! All her pieces are MASTERPIECES in her own version. In my opinion LAURA NYRO is by far better than other very good musicians, probably the best artist ever! The gorgeous & great Laura Nyro & a very beautiful Lady! Thank you & greetings from Germany!
Laura didn't officially release this during her lifetime. She evidently decided she didn't like this song so much and used elements of it for "Midnite Blue" on 'Smile'. It's a demo she recorded. Sony Japan tagged this and two others onto their reissue of 'Smile' in 2009 as bonus tracks. I find it interesting to hear an artist develop a song. Laura was good for introducing new songs at her live shows. They usually had several changes made before officially released on one of her albums.
