Right before she played this on the IG battle with Jill, I had just said I wanted to hear it. It’s like she heard my request through the frequencies.

It's easier to understand when you look at how Erykah wrote the actual lyrics in the CD book. It's written as a play/drama with roles: The Healer, The Children, and All. For example, The Healer says: "they call you indigo" (they=other people), and The Children respond: "we call you AFRICA" (aka the healer for indigo children is the land of Africa). It may referr to ancient stories about indigo children, who originally came from places in Africa. THEY say: "we've been programmed", and The Healer tells them to "wake up". It is believed many of indigo children are still alive today, which is what a song is about (above the literal message that hip hop is bigger than religion etc). It's about the rebirth of pure souls who feel connected to nature, spirituality and have compassion for all. It's for people to realise there are many of them still among us but some have been shut down by the digitalized system. I think The Healer may symbolize Earth, as it says: "we miss you" to the children. Please forgive me my poor English, but it's not my native language.

One of the most underrated R&B/hip hop tracks I've ever heard. Doesn't get old. Madlib is a straight music magician.

You gotta be on a certain frequency, a higher vibration to relate to this. I didn't start appreciating music like this until I started growing spiritually
