Gotta get out of TV
Just pick a point and go The ticker-tape tangles my feet
As I search for a face that I know
Come on, tower crane driver
There’s not so far to go
I must have been working the ropes
When your hand slipped from mine
No I live off the mirrors and smoke
It’s a joke, a fix, a lie
Come on, tower crane driver
Oh so far to throw
Send up a prayer in my name
Just the same
They say I’m on top of my game
Send up a prayer in my name
I remember hearing this concert on TV, on a stormy sleepless night, I didn't even have image, to see the band's name or what was going on, but this particular song made me look them up the next day, and I got hooked up ever since ~♥
Every time I watch this, I imagine what Guy Garvey must be going through emotionally hearing that orchestra behind him. I get goosebumps and shivers just watching this (especially the choir part), I can't even begin to imagine how he felt at that part.
the fact the BBC Concert Orchestra would pick this up....and take the time to record it... tells you of the importance of Elbow's composition skills...

Dwindle gentle rose

I don't say this often as I reserve the coming comments for songs I've known for years, but here it is:
This may be one of the greatest records of music ever made. This shows our species at its finest. This is exponentially more than music, this is passion, love, power, emotion, creativity, beauty, intelligence, and intensity rolled in to one unbelievable song. I'm filled with emotion as my heart races and my eyes crinkle and I do everything I can not to break down. Sometimes there are no words for something special; sometimes there aren't enough.
Still come back to this video every now and then to watch this wonderful performance. Just wanted to post this so anyone else who does the same knows they're not alone. This is my favorite band of all time, and performances like this reaffirm that! I wish they had a bigger fan base in the U.S.. Cheers
greatest live performance ever. the moment the choir echo guy's "they say im on top of my game" is a euphoric moment, so uplifting. what all music should be about
Back again. My first comment was 5, or 6 years ago, and.... yet, still here! I will continue to visit every now and then, as long as it's here.
Ya' know, I don't think there was a single individual in that studio that didn't realize they were in the middle of an incredibly special performance.
I love the band's facial expressions at the end of this. I think they're as astonished by the sound with the full orchestra as we are. It's my favorite part of the video.
