Y'all can't get down with this! Trynig to teach my 26 year old peers about this!! Give me this...some Phyllis Hyman..Stylistics, Isaac Hayes, Temprees...all of that...any day over the mess they call music nowadays!!
Back in 1975, I was standing on an 11th floor balcony looking out and dreaming about my future and listening to this song. Now some 32 countries and 43 years later, this song makes me want to do and see more. I'm so grateful for the memories and this song...
Donaldson Toussaint L'Ouverture Byrd II - passed a year ago yesterday. A groove-master supreme. One of music's most transcendent cats. Infused funk & soul into the marriage of jazz and bebop. Taught the art of the jam. Influenced Herbie Hancock. Rolled with Rollins, Coltrane and Monk - even Isaac Hayes. Gave us the Blackbyrds and revealed the genius of the Mizell brothers. We, your ever-loyal fans, truly believe you have Heaven vibin' to this very day and beyond. R.I.P.
"Takes a little while - then you'll understand." True indeed
Respect - Jah Bless. ~D. (the 4th Letter).
Like I have always said what would black music be without Detroit, Chicago and Philly no disrespect to other cities but the track record of putting up great artist these cities have.
