Mr. Byrd music take me back to the early '70 of Washington, DC and Howard University. Some many great times of listening to Mr. Byrd and the Blackbyrds on WHUR 96.3 FM. Gone but never forgotten. Thank you, Dr. Byrd!!!!
A very entertaining symphonic classical beebob jazzy trumpet influence disco dance groove jamming funk and r & b mix that wants you to get up and dance, shout, sing and just wanna clap your hands.
Jazzy Jeff`s `Touch of Jazz` brought me here........
In 1976 when I was 12, the only song I remember hearing from this album on the radio was `Falling like Dominoes`... Maybe one other one, but never heard this until Jazzy Jeff`s sample 1987
A great artist and human being. Takes me back to the 70's; he brigded the gap from the 50's to the contemporary spectrum of jazz. Won't ever forget you.
"Places and Spaces" was fortunately introduced to me back in 1998 and forever I am in his debt. D Byrd & Co. kill it on this LP, all the way through. A lung full of green leaf tea and this album--peas & carrots.
