This is the song that's doing it for me right now. Those cascades of synths are matching the snow outside and then this voice comes in, like a beautiful benevolent space lizard.

That's Mary Hopkin of "Those Were The Days" fame that's doing the "do-do-do-do-do, do-ee-oo"'s in the lead up to the first verse. Not a lot of people know that!

this was the first song I played when I heard he died. it's not his most popular song, not even sure if it's my favorite, but there is something about it... it speaks the full range of human emotion, from depression and misery to joy and beauty... and beyond that, I think it shows how those feelings can all coexist at the same time in one person... life is hard and complicated but also incredibly beautiful

Ah Ah Doo, doo, doo, do-doh Doo, doo, doo, do-doh Don't you wonder sometimes 'Bout sound and vision Blue, blue, electric blue That's the color of my room Where I will live Blue, blue Pale blinds drawn all day Nothing to do, nothing to say Blue, blue I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision Drifting into my solitude, over my head Don't you wonder sometimes 'Bout sound and vision Compositori: David Bowie

There is bad music, there is good music, and there is Bowie.

Sound and Vision has been my favorite Bowie song for a while. It has always put me on the verge of tears. There's an emotional space in this song that really resonates with me. Since I heard the news of his passing, every time I hear this song I lose it completely. I assume some day far in the future I'll be able to hear this song without becoming a blubbering wreck, and I'm honestly kind of sad about that too. His music had such a massive impact on my development as a person, and the world just feels dim without his presence.
