I'm listening to the intro of this thinking, hey, this ain't a waltz, it's in 4/4. Then it switches up. Gotta remember what Album I'm listening to.  Absolute genius.

It was Paul Desmond's beautiful sound that made me fall in love with jazz and start listening to the greats.

As usual, when Paul Desmond plays these lower sweet tunes, his alto sax sounds as though it's Paul's own voice humming the solo to you. After all these years, it's these kinds of solos that make me say, "Desmond is my favorite jazz horn player of all time."  His tone and cool is still unmatched.  Such a special musician.

I hear Vince Giraldi here, Brubeck clearly was a huge influence on him.
