This album is perhaps Cannonball's most underrated - TOO BAD! - I had the pleasure of seeing Cannonball's Sextet (with Yusef Latiff) in the early 60's in L.A. - part of that great jazz club scene in L.A. at that time - Duke Pearson's Jeannine is the type of musical line that could go for 24 hours in a row and you would never get tired of hearing it - another great version of this song is on the old CD with Pepper Adams-Donald Byrd recorded live with Duke Pearson playing piano- "KEEP ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF JAZZ"

I bought the vinyl LP in Cardiff in 1960/61 when life was easy, never dreaming that an unspeakable english Tory women would one day turn it all to shit. A mate who played tenor in a Cardiff night club thought it almost a perfect album, not one bum note anywhere. Ah the bliss of growing up then to music like this.
