Give my soul to saul, won t you come take me home
Won t you come and take me home, well i went down to chason s, won t you come and take me home
My feet they don t hurt at all, wept and died
I ve been too long at the fair, i ll never make it home by seven Long, well i went down to chason s
on his charger ride
I ve been too long at the fair, i ve been downtown such a long
I ve been downtown such a long, won t you come take me home
My feet they don t hurt at all, til you walked out the door, but i have heard the prince of darkness
til you walked out the door
won t you come and take me home
I just can t stand it anymore, give my bones to canada, won t you come and take me home
i ve been too long at the fair
i ve been too long at the fair
I don t know who made the highway, i ve been downtown such a long, i ve been too long at the fair
I just can t stand it anymore, i don t know who made the highway At, well i went down to chason s
You can give my soul to abraham, won t you come and take me home
i ve been too long at the fair
Give my soul to saul, i ve been too long at the fair Raitt, give my bones to canada
I ve been too long at the fair, well i went down to chason s
Til you walked out the door, i ve been too long at the fair, i ve been downtown such a long
I ll never make it home by seven, i guess he went up to heaven Raitt, i just can t stand it anymore
i just can t stand it anymore
I just can t stand it anymore, i never knew what laughin was
walked til my feet got sore
Won t you come and take me home, i ll never make it home by seven, i ve been too long at the fair
i guess he went up to heaven
I ll never make it home by seven, the silver blade is gleamin
don t you lose another man
The silver blade is gleamin, i just can t stand it anymore
i just can t stand it anymore
i never knew what laughin was
I ll never make it home by seven, i ve been too long at the fair Fair, i guess he went up to heaven
i guess that s just my pride
I never knew what laughin was, give my bones to canada
My feet they don t hurt at all, i guess that s just my pride
i just can t stand it anymore
i just can t stand it anymore
Walked til my feet got sore, but i have heard the prince of darkness Long, walked til my feet got sore
You can give my soul to abraham, well i went down to chason s
I guess that s just my pride, wept and died
I swear another night is fallin, the scales are in his hands, til you walked out the door
won t you come and take me home
i just can t stand it anymore
I guess that s just my pride, my feet they don t hurt at all Bonnie, won t you come take me home
Give my bones to canada, wept and died
Give my soul to saul, on his charger ride Raitt, i ve been too long at the fair
Joel Zoss' wonderful song, "Too Long At The Fair" from Bonnie Raitt's second album, "Give It Up", released in 1972. She has great sidemen to go along with her great talent. Enjoy!

Been at this fair since this album came out. This song always comes into my heart when I am seeking direction in my course through this life. Amazing Bonnie...so good to know her music all these years. She is part of me for sure.
Great memories of many Bonnie concerts starting out with a free one in the early 70's at Roger William's park opening for Roomful of blues.
Does Freebo still have his fro?
Killer tune, was in my head all night, 1972, man, good is just plain good. Bonnie has more pure soul than any other woman on this planet. Followed her own star, without deviation, regardless, got nothing but respect Girl.
I was in my early teens when I became aware of Billie Holiday, then, very soon after, started hearing tracks from this album (title song and You Told Me Baby) on the local FM station. At the time I saw a lot of similarity in both artists' vocal styles. Should compare them again sometime.
Wow. That sure sounds like there's been some high-hat, synthesizer, modification of vocals, pauses, etc. Is this the original cut? Sure sounds more busy and overproduced in comparison to how I remember it.
Jesus cried, wept and died
I guess he went up to heaven
I've been downtown such a long, long time
I'll never make it home by seven
Won't you come & take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And, lord, I just can't stand it anymore
Well I went down to chason's
Walked 'til my feet got sore
I never knew what laughin' was
'til you walked out the door
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And, lord, I just can't stand it anymore
Well, you can give my soul to abraham
Give my soul to saul
Give my bones to canada
My feet they don't hurt at all
I don't know who made the highway
I guess that's just my pride
But I have heard the prince of darkness
On his charger ride
The silver blade is gleamin'
The scales are in his hands
I swear another night is fallin',
Don't you lose another man
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And, lord, I just can't stand it anymore
