for my yesterday
tear her castle down
for my yesterday
And the bird would sing, sweet baby mine
i m just looking for
sing out loud
for my yesterday
sweet baby mine
sweet baby mine
put that falling bird
People like to know that, sing out loud
Baby it s alright, throw whispers
sing out loud
don t even pay me no mind
Sing out loud, put that falling bird, for my yesterday
Sing out loud, throw whispers
I m just looking for, if you see me running through some streets in life
I watch them fade and fade away, i watch them fade and fade away Times, i m just looking for
The night will come and the dawn will fall, i m just looking for
and i know it s like lollipops
For my yesterday, i m just looking for
What ever happened to those good times, sing out loud Happened, and the bird would sing
Dear mr Womack, you song vibrates in my heart that is yet so young (22), and i can't dare imagine the melancholy i'll carry when i'll be your age. But i shall learn from your experience, contemplate the path you and all the elders walked before me, and learn from your footsteps. They will remind me that i'm not alone, and that my own ones need to be just as clear, for those younger ones walking behind me.
Womack recorded it in the early 80's during the Poet sessions. I believe it was first released on So Many Rivers in 1986 by Bobby. It was written by Bobby and Jim Ford.
I read an article bout damon albarn bout how he was on heroin & it was the late 90's & blur had dominated the whole decade in europe,& he needed a break so he went to africa & heard the most simple, repetitive, yet beautiful beats of music he heard in his life & it gave him the idea to start the gorillaz. If you hear his solo stuff he has the blues in it,he has ike turner on piano, and with producing this album he has his take on soul. Very few people today can get a true soul album right, but yet this white dude from england somehow did it. This album is genius, womacks a genius writer and singer,& albarns a genius producer. This is my fav song from the album...
Great album it covers the stage of life that I'm at now. Those good times now only live in the inner space of my mind and heart, but there's still time enough for plenty more dream moments and I will be listening to"The Bravest Man In The Universe"as I live them!!! THANKS,Mr. Womack, your music has been like the sound track of my life!!! I fe'l ya!!!
This is one of the few songs that I just have to keep coming back to every few days. Cuts straight through to the soul. I'll be keeping Bobby in my thoughts hoping that his symptoms don't get worse any time soon,
Not sure many people know this, but this song is actually a re-make of an earlier Womack track of the same name from an album called "So Many Rivers". Give it a search, it has the same lyrics. I actually really prefer this version. Amazing the power lyrics can have when they are made the focus!
I mean holy shit. Woah Bobby, immense.
(I also love how the starting line sounds like "walk on by", and the short melody sounds like "Rod Stewarts - Do You Think I'm Sexy"
