The drumming really sounds like a peacock ruffling its feathers. This is one of my favorite tunes Bill did.

No one could make the piano sound so much like a personal voice. The instrument is percussive to begin with, but a few have "the touch." Some of it can be learned--much of it, however, is found in the physical structure of the player. Contrary to some misconceptions, Bill had broad, powerful shoulders along with the biggest (I mean "thick") fingers of any pianist. He can make the instrument swell, breathe, go from ff to pp instantly, each note receiving equal pressure, no force or pounding.

for me, Bill Evans was one of the most brilliantly creative pianists of the 20th century...in any genre. RIP Bill

Written by a Los Angeles piano player called Jimmy Rowles sounds like it was written for Bill.
