The re-dos that this band did of earlier performances were never of the same stature. Yet this band had a sound of its own that was beautiful and quite moving on newer arrangements done at that time. The one constant though was always Shaw's terrific tone on an instrument that has a natural corny sound. No more romantic sound ever came out of this instrument than when it was in Shaw's mouth.

Although I was born well after the big band era I love the music. In my opinion Shaw's groups were the best.

He did this in another version around 1940/1941 for Victor records with a string section and Georgie Auld on tenor sax. I prefer that one, but this is very good,as well. It's an adaption of the earlier chart.
