Bill Hardman was so ridiculously underrated, Billy Harper too (but he's still playing - catch him if you get the chance!). In fact, other than Blakey, this whole band is made up of incredibly underrated players. All wonderful talents, most now sadly gone
An excellent Blakey ensemble for sure. Interesting to hear a young Billy Harper still searching for his sound, while Julian Priester and Bill Hardman were clearly in their prime. Art Blakey throws down as only he could! It sounds like someone is playing the cowbell on this, perhaps Billy Harper.
