I want to be free to fly away and sing to the world
About my soul serenade, my soul serenade
When you’re not around there’s a lonely sound
In my soul serenade, in my soul serenade
Everyone but you adores me
But do you know pretty soon they bore me
Let me tell you right now that they bore me
They bore me with their pretty little words
Those pretty little words of devotion
But oh, let me tell you right now
My message to 'em this evening
Is they can jump in anybody’s ocean
Because only you hear my soul
My soul serenade, my soul serenade
I have this album, I was 17 years old when it came out . This was one of my favorites but everything on the album was the bomb. Aretha Franklin was definitely the Queen and no one can ever replace THE QUEEN OF SOUL, it's been 52 years and I've heard them all. LONG LIVE THE MUSIC OF THE QUEEN OF SOUL. RIP Aretha Franklin.
MY MOTHER TOLD ME WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT WITH ME ALL SHE LISTEN TO WAS ARETHA FRANKLIN . I CAN REMEMBER BACK IN THE EARLY 60's ON SATURDAY WHEN WHEN SHE WAS WASHING OUR CHOTHES IT WENT DOWN WITH ARETHA. THAT WHY I LOVE ARETHA. MY DAUGHTER LOVE ARETHA AND HER DAUGHTER LOVE ARETHA. ARETHA IS IN OUR BLOOD. THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL MUSIC. I LOVED TO SONG ARETHA FRANKLIN SONG TO MY HUSBAND BEFORE HE PASS . I KNEW WHAT PUT HIM IN THE MOOD. 30 WONDERFUL YEARS.
Aretha started in the church with her Dad. She carried that "Church" sound into the secular world, that is why it moves you. Well it moves me. Love this lady. Fellow native Detroiter.
