I was born in 1960. My mum, who was a single working mother, sang this song to me every morning while she was putting on her make-up and getting ready to dress and leave for work and I was going to school, dragging my feet l a bit but then I took off like a gazelle.
Praying for you Aretha! When I was a young 21 yr old girl I was a cocktail waitress at the Ritz Carlton in St. Louis! A young man was chatting me up and asked if I wanted “to come see my mom’s show?” Well mom was Aretha! He let me bring anyone I wanted so I took my mother! He put us in the front row at the Fox and then moved us to the Orchestra Pit a foot front the stage and it was a night I will never forget!! Then he took us backstage to meet everyone! What a memory!!
My mother passed away two years ago due to ovarian cancer she also sufferered from schitzophrenia she used to dance to this song everyday. I love her forever and ever ❤️
