I agree with you, Jay. This really was a much better era of everything, including TV. All the true greats like Andy Griffith are what made this era what it was. I miss them all.
OH how I miss you Mr. Griffith. I SO long for the days of Andy, Barney, Opie, Aunt Bee, Floyd, Otis & Mayberry... your love, warmth & kindness, your friendship, your strong sense of family, faith & community. And of course... the endless smiles that YOU & ALL of Mayberry NEVER FAILED to put on my face. Each of you have my eternal, heartfelt gratitude. You will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully dear friends.
The way Andy could tell a story and make you laugh was truly a rare talent. My favorite routine he did was the football story . I can listen to it and laugh so hard my sides hurt.
He has always and forever will have a special place in my heart. He and Mark Twain were both born with that most powerful ability to make us laugh as much by what they said but also knowing the value of a well placed pause. As Twain said, laughter is the strongest weapon that humans have as nothing can stand against it.
Now, THAT, my friends is entertainment!! And he did it with all his clothes on and without swearing. "He didn't tell funny stories. He told stories funny".
i was born in 1989 but i am an old soul born in the wrong era. i watch andy griffith as its the best show of all time. pure clean comedy and every story has a morality point.
