This woman could not make a B-Side. Her voice just turns any song to a wonderful melody!

Dusty In Memphis is one of the greatest music albums of all time. A Welsh girl learned she could sing the blues.

Scott Walker's is the DEFINITIVE version. PJ Proby's is terrible.

I bought the "Dusty in Memphis" album for the Carole King songs, but this is my favorite, an incredible song, arrangement, and singing from Dusty springfield. You can feel the irony of the situation and the pain in every note she sings.

How is Dusty In Memphis not better known? One of the best albums by a British artist ever, just a huge marriage of talent between Dusty and her band of American musicians and songwriters. I feel like this song is its emotional peak, she was so expressive and vulnerable when she wanted to be.

The real Queen of Soul...Dusty, you make me feel every word, every emotion, every orchestral arrangement. It was a pleasure having listened to your beautiful voice, ever since I was a young kid. I loved you then, and I love you posthumously! You were the Hope Diamond in the musical tiara of the recording industry. The world and I miss such an irreplaceable talent! In your absence, I will keep your memory alive, by listening to your recordings, wherever possible! Long live "The Queen!"

Her emotive vocals and the eerie instrumentation make this too potent for an everyday gander! It's so good that it indeed does hurt!

Her smooth and sexy sound no one will be able to duplicate Dusty's sooth sound -- talk is so loud and the walls are much too thin! Her voice is an instrument!

The finest three minutes on the impeccable Dusty in Memphis. There are some incredible covers of this Randy Newman original and Dusty's is right up there, equal to all of them. There are a couple of moments on this where she hits such a note of exquisite beauty and pain that it is breathtaking. The only disappointment for me is that I don't feel she's served by the fade-out at the end, but it is a wonderful interpretation all the same.

This is a masterpiece. A perfect blending of lyrics, arrangement, emotion, and vocals. This is why Dusty Springfield is considered a singer's singer. You can just SEE and FEEL every line she sings. A recording that should be studied by any aspiring vocalist. Brilliant.

Don't understand why you were so insecure about recording in Memphis. Baby…you had it all. God given pipes for sure. This is my favorite song of yours ( thanks Randy.)  And one of the top ten soul albums of all time. And that horn at 0:30 is still so sad after all these years. R.I.P sweetheart.
