I can't be the only one who when uncontrollably drunk seeks peace in this song.

She was such a great interpretive artist, I would have liked to hear her do some Rodgers and Hart.

The greatest British female singer full stop...yes and I'm including all the usual suspects..head and shoulders.

She was so freaking young. That's what gets me. Her artistry was far beyond her years.

The great Gene Chrisman on drums. The way the drums are miked here is true engineering brilliance. Tommy Dowd and Arif Mardin at their finest. God bless em, both.

What I loved about growing up in the sixties is you'd hear purple haze, sunshine of your love, light my fire, suite judy blue eyes on the radio&then Dusty Springfield would come on singing this beautiful song or just a little lovin,I only want to be with you, anyone who had a heart or wishin&hopin&it would just knock your socks off.No offense to Katy Perry or Rhianna but anyone who loves female vocalists needs to have "Dusty in Memphis".Its a landmark recording by one of the greatest vocalist ever.

This is my favourite track from her Memphis LP. So beautiful!! To fall in love with.... So smooth, husky, vulnerable and still sexy. Thanks for that one, Dusty! You are the best.... RIP dear Mary...

If you want to hear sorrow, hurt and longing expressed in a song that has been summoned up from within with searing emotion manifested from deep within, this is it! Its real, heartfelt and honest and truly from a 'lonely' soul. Listen in utter amazement

The weird thing is this album bombed when it came out in 1969. I remember Son of a Preacher Man was a big radio hit. But the album was a dud. What were people thinking? It's a masterpiece.

I agree. One of the best albums released in 1969.

Her delivery of the word "soul" is just emotionally devastating.
