Only Leonard Cohen had the charisma to sing by basically reciting a poem in a low voice over backing music. I'm gonna miss the guy.

My wife and I saw you perform this at the outdoor Paolo Soleri Theater in Santa Fe, New Mexico, July 9, 1993.  You added several more verses not in the standard version - one about slave ships sailing into Charleston Bay.  The evening was wonderful, Perla and Julie angelic, and it was, oh, so perfect - one of the best evenings of my life.  Now the Paolo Soleri is gone, my wife is gone and you are gone and I am old and feeling that I've seen maybe all there is to see.  Except that I don't expect to see democracy coming here to "the cradle of the best and the worst" any time soon.  Thank you, Leonard, and R.I.P.

Everything Leonard Cohen does connects and sends chills down my spine. He's my drug of choice.

How appropriate for now....& ever...Lou Reed was so right...."We're so lucky to be alive at the same time Leonard Cohen is," Lou Reed said while inducting the Canadian into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. RIP Leo

Leonard is outside time itself. You just have to wait, and what he writes will become important again.

"Democracy is coming to the USA..." Haha, Cohen was always spot on in his sarcasm... And spot on in his diagnose of the States. Democracy isn't really no where there.

Dylan got the Nobel prize. Leonard deserved it also.

Make no mistake about it; Leonard Cohen's death has coincided with a time the world needs to listen to his music the most. RIP Mr. Cohen. Thank you for your works.

I'm sorry this song isn't more important. I play this for practically everyone I know. Apparently everyone I know sucks. This song says it all and has been saying it all for awhile now.

Farewell my companion of 50 years, through triumph and disaster; "my love goes with you as your love stays with me" 'Democracy' one of Leonard's more ironic songs - so apposite this week of all week's

Rest in peace to this man who, in his way, was as fine a communicator of this life's impacts on the human heart, the human soul, as any.
