Im 19 found this at a shop in the twin cities, i played Miss Kane for everyone on my floor, they didn't understand, they just didn't understand. great record Donald Byrds my man.
My mind is totally blown.... When I was a kid I asked my mother for a Donald Byrd album. We were very poor in New Haven, CT. But my mom made sure that I had something under that tree back in 1972, I was blown away and never asked for anything else from her because I knew it took a lot. DB, music is spiritual and connects me, keeps me grounded. I now have more money than I could have ever imagined and this music makes grounds me to love more every day. Thanks for posting. My mom is gone but this Donald Byrd musical spirit keeps me whole.
So, I just discovered Donald this year and decided to listen to his Street Lady album tonight. It is sheer beauty. This track, in particular has this trippy, slick feel to it. The brass on this is just divine !
Love this cut. Actually came about this track through the back door. Check out MC Eiht Hard Times from 94. Didn't come across Miss Kane til 2012. Funny how good music works.
My Mind is blown, with flutes & horns galore.. Such a swift pace, my ear drums chase and 3rd Eye Illuminates.. Fully Awake, Donald Byrd Me away.. Thanks for sharing.. Peace and OneLove!!!
This is my favorite song by Donald Byrd, that brother is killing that flute.Donald is having a hard time keeping up with him from 5:15 to the end of the song, with all respect.
FOR ALL YOU SO-CALLED "HIP-HOP/R/B" WANNA BES. THE FAST BEAT WASN'T CREATED BY YOU. PAY YOUR DUES, & SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR THE ELDER STATESMAN BRO. DON BYRD. PUTTIN' DOWN, BEFORE YOU KNEW YOURSELF
Eddiej7ohn: Street Lady was one of first listens coming up in 73". Me and the fellows that I grew up with were listening to any and all types of music but for me I love this one the best thanks for the flash back.
