This was in my dad's 78 rpm collection. I was hearing this jam as a kid. Since this was a wax shellac recording, I had to be real careful. Well worth it.
Written by Jimmy Giuffre for Woody Herman's band in 1948. Herman had a famous sax lineup comprising Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, Herbie Steward and Serge Chaloff.
I use to play this in jazz band in middle school, rhythm never leaves the body, I can’t still feel the saxophone keys on the tip of my fingers. Wonderful piece.
