Wendy Holcombe was one of the most important banjo players ever in bluegrass and this woman does NOT get the recognition she deserves. I am a Luthier and I have been preserving Wendys promotional material and any relics I can find to make sure they survive. I am currently seeking her banjos. If anyone, anywhere knows what has become of them please get in touch with me! They are perhaps some of the most important banjos in the world In my opinion and they need to be maintained and preserved for posterity if at all possible. Otherwise they WILL fall into disrepair like many, many other historically special instruments have. This woman is a NATIONAL TREASURE!
I will never forget getting to see Wendy and Jerry Clower at the Arkansas State Fair in the 80s. It was awesome and she was a great instrumentalist! Left this earth way to early.
I agree with those who think she played too fast for her technical ability. Also, I like the sweet lovely young lady who appeared on Hee Haw with Roy and Buck, not the bleached blond version we see here. Yes, I was sad to hear her young life was cut short. She needed time to grow and learn.
