So mysterious. Even the cover picture. This great record really hit me back in 1979 when I first heard it thanks to my Berklee roommate. He had several blue note records; back then they were unavailable except $$ at used record stores. IMO you can't really codify this type of jazz with charts or analysis. Wayne is very intellectual with all his tunes, yet there is a sound there that is not describable by theory. Maybe this one, "the rules are enforced by breaking them". :-)
