I grew up in Belfast, born in '68. I spent a lot of time in My early childhood in East Belfast as a young boy as My mother would take me to see My grandparents there. The whole album describes a world that was rapidly disappearing then. I have cried many times listening to this LP. The joy AND the sorrow - there is not one without the other in this life. A truly great work of art. And this was just the begining. Van, I love your work, ya grumpy ald bastard.
A night in Berlin almost 25 years ago, a little bit drunk, going home with the nice irish man, drinking tea and hearing this magic album. I still love it, and the memories
I am a Belfast boy coming to my 70 birthday. The times of the 60 were unbeatable. Watching him develop into the best talent in the world and being part of a crowd with him and other young group members. Nights squeezed into snugs in the Crown bar in Belfast and the craic was brilliant. The full on gigs at the Jazz club and Maritime club. This was an outstanding album throughout.
Everytime I play this song it reduces me to tears, it melts me, absolutely melts me. I might not listen to it for a couple of months, then I play it again, it hits me as if I am hearing it for the first time. It's an absolutely stunning piece of music. THAT'S WHEN YOU FALL.
Quickest way to pass an hour if waiting for a train is to play this 6 times. When the train comes you will probably think, never mind, will wait for the next one and play it another 6 times
