When I brought this vinyl back to Vermont back in 1995 and plaid it for me blokes, this song opened with that charging guitar, and we were mesmerized. One of, if not the best opening tracks of any album.
MY FAVOURITE ALL TIME PUNK BAND... I'VE SEEN THEM PLAY AT LEAST 18 TIMES ☺️ AND THEY ARE ALWAYS AWESOME...I GOT INTO PUNK IN 79 AND I'M 52yrs. OLD AND STILL A PUNK TODAY
What I could never understand is that in this song and many others, Charlie writes so lucidly about drugs and drug use ("rooms splashed with blood, needles dipped in mud" - I mean, brilliant!) yet he claims to have never taken or been in to drugs!!!!? One of life's many mysteries I guess!
One of my all time favorite punk bands then and now; lyrics and music still is relevant today as is did way back when. Great job you yobs! Keep the flag flying high!
Lockdown meant it was time to dig my guitar out which I never really got good at back in the day and I can sort of bang this and Stranglehold out along with other bands stuff.
Letra:
Yeaaaahhhh
And you died the other day
They took you away
To your hospital bed
Keep screwing up my head with
Emotional blackmail
Emotional blackmail
Emotional blackmail
Emotional blackmail
In this game of survival
There's too many rivals
You sink or you swim
Why bother jumping in
And now I can't go home
To razor cuts on bone
Rooms splashed with blood
Needles dipped in mud and
Emotional blackmail
Emotional blackmail
Emotional blackmail now
