Could ve just said hi you will escape the tears on the runway, you won t take no for an answer, you know i want you but i
I want to apologize for every man, you will escape the tears on the runway, from across the hall
You will escape the tears on the runway, don t you let me pt, don t you let me down
don t you let me down
I won t let you down, i won t let you down
Could ve spared me all the lines, she said i m just another beauty queen, don t you let me
could ve just said hi you will escape the tears on the runway
you won t take no for an answer
Don t you let me, you will escape the tears on the runway
I want to apologize for every man, i know she d seen some better days, and i know that it seems
don t you let me
Let you down, i know she d seen some better days
let you down
she probably feels so afraid
I bet you talked to me cause you saw my personality, i wanna trust you but i pt, wouldn t hesitate to tell me that i m fake
like i mma put out for every fucking dude in town
Wouldn t hesitate to tell me that i m fake, wouldn t hesitate to tell me that i m fake
don t you let me down
From across the hall, don t you let me
it s been weighing on my mind
I love the fact that this is slower and less heavier than part 2.
It just gives you different feelings, in a way. Part one makes you feel like the start of the relationship, like the guy who is saying all of this, the character in a sense, is being sincere, and the want for this relationship is genuine, he wants to help her. Whether or not the relationship forms is entirely your perspective.
Part 2, however, you can almost hear the anger and heartbreak the character(s) are feeling. Michael's screams add to feelings you might have. Part 2 can have many perspectives. She could have ran away from the relationship, she could have friendzoned him, and she could have even decided to end her life. He could have even decided to try to stop loving her, in a sense, and she decides that he changed, thus leaving.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment but I just wanted to share my thoughts!
This brings tears to my eyes. Tears on the Runway pt. 2 is one of my favorite songs from Issues. And this just brings it all together
I love the "I won't let you down" and "I said I wouldn't let you down" thing and "You will escape the tears on the runway" tying with "You left your tears on the runway."
I just love it
I feel like part 1 is about like a relationship starting to form. And then part 2 is that same relationship coming to an end. Cause he says "i wont let you down" and then in part 2 he says "said that i wont let you down, but its like we both have changed somehow" regardless i love them both.
So what I get out of this series of songs is that it is from the perspective of a dude who is hopelessly friend-zoned by this girl who (in pt. 1) is going through break ups with other guys who were fake and jerks to her and he helps her through all of that and tries to show his feelings. The girl the wavers on the idea (the "I want to trust you but I... " line) but ultimately decides against it (here picking up in pt.2) and says she "isn't much for the life of gambling" and that there's "no shame" on those that don't play. Then the guy gets fed up when she goes to yet another guy that is a jerk and he just can't help her through another so he's not going with her this time. But he "lives for the chase" so she is basically toying with him to see if he stays around despite not being what he wants it to be because of the thought that it could exist. And we're left with him questioning whether to stay around here acknowledging that he does, indeed, love the chase.
I know that you can see in music whatever you want to see, which is the beauty of it. Maybe that's a reflection of me, having been that guy before. Just thought I would share a little different perspective on it! Great work Tyler and Nylo, a fantastic set of songs!
