Tom Paxton, a man of conscience, has sang out for justice his entire career ! He wrote this song in 1964 after visiting striking coal miners in Hazard, Perry County, Kentucky, along with Phil Ochs, Eric Andersen and other folksingers.

as a kid my dad would play music with true meaning from artist like Tom Paxton, new lost city ramblers. while he was in his 20 S he listen to johnny cash, Willie Nelson Hank Williams Sr. Bob Dylan ( before he went electric) thank God he could not stand the bitch boys or the betholes so I don't know it surprises them When I started listening to punk music in 1983. just trying to carry on the tradition or rebel music....I still dig the classics. thanks dad.

Love the reference to "Which Side Are You On?".
