If rain will fall high up here upon the mountain
Grass will grow and shepherds will be thankful
And our love will cover up all the mountain
For time is like a promise —
It tries all your strength to keep to
Before she came I lived alone upon the mountain
The raven heard your voice high upon the wind
Then one day you came to me upon the mountain
For time is like a promise —
It tries all your strength to keep to
The sun goes down and shadows soon are interweaving
But she lies so deep inside my love surrounds her
Time will outdo us, this I only know too well
For time is like a promise —
It tries all your strength to keep to
If rain will fall high up here upon the mountain
Grass will grow and shepherds will be thankful
And our love will cover up all the mountain
For time is like a promise -
It tries all your strength to keep to.
Before she came I lived alone upon the mountain
The raven heard your voice high upon the wind
Then one day you came to me upon the mountain
For time is like a promise -
It tries all your strength to keep to.
The sun goes down and shadows soon are interweaving
But she lies so deep inside my love surrounds her
Time will outdo us, this I only know too well
For time is like a promise -
It tries all your strength to keep to.
If rain will fall high up here upon the mountain
Grass will grow and shepherds will be thankful
And our love will cover up all the mountain
For time is like a promise -
It tries all your strength to keep to.
I saw theses chaps in concert last year at the Bath Fringe Festival. I introduced my youngest to real acoustic musicians. They have developed like a fine wine and are still wonderful!
I saw these guys in 1971 at my boarding school in Gloucester when I was 15.
Bought the album and this was always my favourite track.
They were amazing.
I saw Tir-Na-Nog some time in the early 70s and was much impressed. It is good to discover that their charm has not faded with time. But does anybody know where they are now?
Leo was far and away the best of the writers/singers of the hippy days of the 60s and 70s. I hear it now and straight away I'm back in the days of the incredible string band and tir no nog. Happy and Sad all in one. Sometimes you forget how good they were.
