The ending of the "Best of Monk" type BLUE NOTE album has these heavenly chords at the end. All monk is good monk regardless. THUMBS up to great musicians!
Superb recording by the always amazing Thelonious Monk. His album Straight No Chaser from 1967 is truly a phenomenal addition to the Bop archives. It will help you to mellow out even on your most stressful day. Peace be with you, Mr. Monk!!
Monk's greatest contributions are his compositions. His piano voicings are unique and suitable for his compositions. A European musician tried to remove what he called wrong notes from on Monk's compositions and virtually destroyed the songs. Hail the only saxophonist to truly understand Monk. His name? Charlie Rouse.
I to use to listen to Monk in high school. I use to sit a my locker with my headphones and when this track came up I would watch everyone move as if they were in tune with the music and just laugh at what they were all missing.
really "parisienne" feeling by charlie rouse. took me to paris, took me to springtime.... i'm not going to leave anymore.
( einstein's space-time transcribed into a musical piece )
( and here for all the linguists, who may ask: "why parisienne ? why the female mode ?" -- well, you know.... i prefer the female feelings before all other feelings.)
