My aunt died on New Year's Day this year and she loved her some David Ruffin. This was her song as was The Way You Do the Things You Do. This is my favorite temps song and listening to it makes me want to smile but also cry.

Music reflects the times. It’s not that the music was better back then, WE were better back then. Men begged for the affection of a woman. Women were way more secure because of it. “Plenty of work and the bosses are paying” That was the end of a beautiful era. The magic of Motown captures it all. I was born just before the first Motown record so I was weened on some really really good music. If I could in some way transport today’s youth back to that time, they would realize what they’re missing. I feel so sorry for the people of today. It brings tears to my eyes to know what they have missed
