This sweet innocent song hit the world like a burst of sunshine
when it came out and EVERYONE was singing it!
I learned it at Boy Scout camp back in '54 and never forgot it.
I've taught my kids and now grandkids to sing it, as we
"go a-wandering along the mountain track".
Instead of the ugliness we hear over TV and radio, why
can't somebody write some GOOD MUSIC?
Closest was the number by the barefoot Brazilian guy
a few years ago called "Hey, I Love You". Cute.
I was born in 1956 and as a small child was given a plastic wind up record player for my 5th birthday along with this record to play on it. My first ever record.
one of my primary school teachers used to sing this to me and my friend whenever we asked her to. she never got tired of singing it to us, brings back good memories :)
This was the theme song of a 1960's travel show in Los Angeles called surprisingly enough "The happy wanderer." It was hosted by a most jovial man named Slim Barnard and his equally delightful wife. A wonderful memory from a much happier time.
