Here I come Constantinople
Here I come coConstantinople
I am coming Constantinople
Here I come
All the leaves are off of the oak and
All of the sheep have followed the spoken
Word. I’m coming Constantinople
Here I come
So I stand out in the open
All my friends are with you I hope and
pray. I’m coming Constantinople
Here I come.
Here I come Constantinople
Here I come Constantinople
I am coming Constantinople
Here I come
There is a greek folklore legend about how Constantine XI Palaiologos, the last emperor of Vyzantium, was not really killed when Constantinople was siezed by the ottoman militia in 1453 but he was instead petrified awaiting for the right opportunity to help the Greeks reclaim Constatinople from the Ottoman Empire. With this in mind, I see this song as a parody of messianism and propably religion. And i think there are evidence for this theory, like the talking head attached to a stone, the praying hands towards the end and finally the man falling from the sky who is never actually shown reaching the ground (messiah that never comes). That's just me though. Cool song and video anyway.
To the disappointing number of people misjudging this as meaningless weirdness:
It's about death. Constantinople is now called Istanbul, therefore the idea of Constantinople is an abstract link to non-existance, because it in essence doesn't exist anymore.
So when he says he's going to Constantinople, he's saying that he will cease to exist himself ("it's been a good life... I'm ready" etc)
